Volunteers needed for the TeamMSRC Cheering Point

Dear All,

The Flora London Marathon takes place on Sunday 13th April and we have a team of 140+ runners taking part.

We need willing volunteers to "man" the TeamMSRC Cheering Point on Westferry Road, Isle of Dogs (around Mile 17 of the route).

There will be banners and balloons tied to the barriers so it will be clear where our supporters need to be. We can arm you with rapper clappers and TeamMSRC T-shirts and we need you to make as much noise as possible...

As many of you will know, Alastair Hignell, ex-England and Gloucester rugby player, is our Patron.

This year, a group of people, who were either at Cambridge with Alastair or associated with him during his time there, are running the Flora London Marathon for us, the MSRC, under the banner "Higgy's Heroes".

Former fireman Tony Salter is stoking himself up for the challenge of a lifetime. The Granada-based B&B owner has been spending hours training up for next years London marathon.

Salter, who moved to the village of Moclin four years ago, is raising money for The Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre. He was inspired to undertake the challenge by friend Denise Ross, also from Moclin, who has been living with MS since being diagnosed with the condition 17 years ago.

Runner Gemma Appleby is to follow in her dad's footsteps - by running the 26 miles of next year's London Marathon on her 26th birthday.

Miss Appleby, of Felixstowe, has secured a place in the team of the Colchester-based Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre (MSRC) charity for the April 13 event.

MSRC Firewalk Sunday 11th November

On Sunday 11th November, a team of brave soles all took part in the MSRC Firewalk.

This years event was held at the Ford County Ground in Chelmsford with the firewalk actually taking place on the outfield of the cricket pitch.

Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph!

Well for Ella Findlay this is now a reality as on 15th of September 2007................. Ella will be Tandem Skydiving 4...

Ironman Triathlon Austria 2007 Sunday 8th July.

On 8th July Brian Palmer of Swansea, South Wales will be competing in the Ironman Triathlon Austria 2007 at Klagenfurt.

Brian has previously competed in various Ironman Events around the world, including the famous gruelling one in Lanzarote and last year's UK Ironman Triathlon.

To support Brian, and help him raise much needed funds for the MSRC...

The Pink Fairy's London to Paris Cycle Ride - June 2007

Sara Cutting aka "The Pink Fairy" is raising much needed funds for the MSRC in a number of ways this year.

Sara's big sister, Libby, was diagnosed with MS earlier this year so this is a very personal cause for her.

Sara began the London to Paris Cycle Ride on 13th June 2007 and finshed, in Paris on 17th June.
